부산시립극단이 2026년 특별공연으로 어린이 뮤지컬 아카데미 작품 ‘오즈의 마법사’를 오는 28일부터 3월 1일까지 부산문화회관 중극장에서 총 4회 선보인다.

이번 공연은 (재)부산문화회관이 주최하고 부산시립예술단이 주관, 부산시립극단이 제작했다. 객원연출 윤준기가 각색·연출을 맡고, 작곡 강현민과 안무 안희경이 참여해 완성도를 높였다. 특히 3개월간 집중 훈련을 거친 어린이 뮤지컬 아카데미생 20명이 부산시립극단 단원들과 함께 무대에 올라 의미를 더한다.

작품은 오즈의 마법사를 원작으로 하며, 지혜와 사랑, 용기를 찾아 떠나는 여정 속에서 이미 자신 안에 그 답이 있음을 깨닫는 메시지를 전한다. 연출진은 화려한 판타지보다는 원작의 순수성과 본질에 집중해, 어린이 배우들이 공감하고 표현할 수 있는 음악과 무대를 구현했다.

이번 공연은 단순한 발표회가 아닌, 지역 어린이들이 협업 예술의 과정을 직접 경험하며 성장한 결과물이라는 점에서 특별하다. 가족 관객이 함께 즐기며 따뜻한 감동을 나눌 수 있는 무대가 될 것으로 기대된다.

The Busan Municipal Theater Company will present its 2026 special production, the children’s musical academy work “The Wizard of Oz,” from the 28th to March 1 at the mid-sized theater of Busan Cultural Center, for a total of four performances.

Hosted by the Busan Cultural Center Foundation, organized by the Busan Municipal Arts Group, and produced by the Busan Municipal Theater Company, the production is directed and adapted by guest director Yoon Jun-gi. Composer Kang Hyun-min and choreographer Ahn Hee-kyung have contributed to enhancing its artistic quality. Notably, 20 students from the children’s musical academy—who have completed three months of intensive training—will share the stage with company members, adding special significance to the performance.

Based on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the musical conveys a message about discovering that the wisdom, love, and courage we seek are already within ourselves. Rather than focusing on spectacular fantasy elements, the creative team has emphasized the purity and essence of the original novel, crafting music and staging that young performers can genuinely relate to and express.

More than just a showcase, this production represents the culmination of a collaborative artistic journey in which local children directly experienced the creative process and grew through it. It is expected to offer families a heartwarming and meaningful theatrical experience.
